Where do you come from? Who do you belong to?

21st Sunday in Ordinary Time, Year C

The sheepfold has a gate. I wonder if it the same as the narrow door?

Today we hear Jesus tell about a person who says, "I do not know where you come from." We know this is not the Good Shepherd speaking to his sheep, because Jesus says, "I know my sheep and my sheep know me." And Jesus knows where his sheep come from.

Where do YOU come from? You might know the name of the street you live on, the name of your city, the country you live in. Of course, Jesus knows this about you.

Another way of asking that question is, WHO do you come from? Who are the people who know you by name? Who do you belong to? Who are the people who help you know God?

" Then people will come from east and west, from north and south, and will eat in the kingdom of God."

We hear about the people in the Kingdom of God coming from all parts of the world. What are they doing? Eating! How good it is to belong to the Good Shepherd and eat together in the Kingdom of God!
